What we cannot see

Message content, attachments, avatars' original bytes after sanitizing, your encrypted recovery backup, and social-recovery shares are end-to-end encrypted or client-encrypted. We do not have the keys.

What we necessarily process

To deliver messages we process limited metadata (account identifier, device identifiers, and routing/timing needed to deliver). We minimize retention. Presence, read receipts, and typing indicators are user-controlled and off by default where they would leak activity.

Image describe (optional, paid)

If you opt in to cloud image-describe, the image bytes you choose to caption are sent to our AI provider to produce text and are not stored by us. Free on-device captioning sends nothing to a server.

Law enforcement

Content is end-to-end encrypted and not available to us. Valid legal process reaches only the limited metadata we hold; minimizing metadata is part of the design.

Your rights

You may request deletion of your account and associated metadata. Recovery backups and shares are deleted on request or account deletion.
